I agree! I’m so sick of leaving it up to the parents to get the kid help when it’s anti-social behaviors! Because guess why kids end up as sociopaths? 9/10 it’s because of bad parenting!! So we are to trust bad parents to take control of the situation? That’s insane!

@Ne8f2h18dhcwl0q antisocial behaviors do not always = ASPD. I had antisocial behaviors from age 10-15 because of severe child abuse and that morphed into borderline personality disorder in adulthood and I stopped terrorizing others and began to internalize it instead. So writing off treatment because of the behavior is irresponsible. I spent my entire life not knowing wtf was wrong with me and only just got diagnosed at age 43. Now I am in remission and doing really well. I have 13 years of sobriety and just wrapped up grad school with honors. So we don’t know a persons true pathology until we get them the help they asked for. If he was experiencing hallucinations, he very likely doesn’t (just) have ASPD and therefore it CAN be treated with meds and therapy, which he asked for BEFORE the shooting. I doubt he is ASPD because his personality over time doesn’t show that. Including his statement in court upon being sentenced. He seemed to have clarity and humility regarding his actions. That doesn’t happen with ASPD. Sure they can fake it- but it generally doesn’t sound sincere since they have a hard time faking emotions they don’t possess.

@notbornagainbornright5046 I know a man pushing 60 and he killed his little brother with a gun when he was about 5 because his parents couldn’t be bothered to lock it up. Irving hapoened to them 🤦🏻‍♀️ I am glad to see this FINALLY changing!!

That’s not the issue. MANY 14 year olds are given guns and TAUGHT gun safety by loving parents. The problem here is that they bought e severely disturbed child a gun and then didn’t even properly lock it up. It’s the difference between letting your 16 year old borrow the family car and letting a 16 year old on meth borrow the family car. When you KNOW they’re on meth.

@tamicyrusOUproud if they charged the parents with murder the parents would be found not guilty because what they did doesn’t meet the definition of murder. You want that? We charge people with the crimes they committed- we don’t fabricate charges just to make us feel better. If found guilty their life’s will still be severely impacted. Prison is still in the table.
