  1. Calling BS on this one. I am sure the good dr. understands the difference between inherent qualities that can predict the production of value but do not guarantee it, and actual transactional value (money, status, power). Women ABSOLUTELY can love a man for his intrinsic qualities (who he is) - traits that inspire her and cause her to admire him sincerely. This is true even if such traits hold high potential for value production or the value might never be realized : intelligence, creativity, confidence, a sense of competence, leadership, a sense of direction, protective attitude, sense of humor, "coolness," etc. These are intrinsic qualities likely to produce tangible value but still do not guarantee this outcome. That means she loves him exactly for who he is ( THAT!!). This is not in any way different from loving a woman for her youth, beauty, gentleness and femininity. Those too are intrinsic qualities (who she is) predictive of value, the most notable of which are fertility and health for child carrying and rearing, but also male status (I'm dating a ten) and tangible support (instrumental, emotional, etc). These intrinsic qualities render her endearing to him because they are likely to produce the kind of value he cares about. Let us not forget that all that "youth and beauty" is not desired just 'cause. "Who she is" produces value. Both sexes find the opposite sex endearing for qualities that predict some kind of value to the partner and that's exactly "who they are." Value is not just tangible stuff, never mind children are tangibles too. Neither sex loves the other randomly and in a purely disinterested manner, especially if that's something repulsive that predicts zero value to the opposite sex, if not a burden (dumb, ugly, awkward, sloppy, etc). They both must inspire to some degree. Heck, even many parents show subconscious preference for children who are more inclined to bring "value" to the family. Foot note: when a woman falls deeply in love with a man (exactly for who he is!), there's no end to how romantically deluded and devoted to him she can become, to the point where she could de-prioritize everyone else in her life for his sake, her own children included. There may be more true romantics among men than among women (number wise), but the award for the highest degree of romantic intensity and devotion goes equivocally to the woman in love, rare as she may be. Most romantic men preserve a shred of reason and try to solve the problem somehow. The romantic woman goes all the way in, and could even become dangerous to others just for his sake. But then the world will call her insane, not romantic. The male bias on this channel needs to come down a notch for the sake of credibility and a realistic narrative.
