I'm a software engineer, and where I work, project managers are some of the MVPs. I don't know how they keep track of so many people, swimlanes, strategies, and yet somehow are able to inspire us geeky engineers to do fun things or work smarter. I massively respect you guys, and at the same time, I admit I don't envy you for your jobs!
I've kinda been in a similar spot, where I was hating my job, but felt I couldn't leave due to how I was part of a team that was working on some bleeding-edge stuff at the time, which seemed like an opportunity I'd be foolish to give up. However, I was able to get a spot at the same company with a different team, which made it way easier. Still, it was tough to get up the courage to actually say "This ain't workin'" to my manager.

Having just picked up my IS 500 as a "daily" (though I work from home, so it's more of an errand car), I definitely vibe with this. Everyone and their mother is telling me to "get PPF, get ceramic coat, wax your wheels, get all-weather mats" and the list goes on. While I plan to do some of those things, namely PPF, I also want to accept that it is gonna get messy. I plan to keep this thing for years and am under no delusions that it'll look the same at 50,000 miles as it did at 50 miles. Some people buy cars to keep them in the garage and eventually sell them, but I plan to enjoy mine. I like that you enjoy yours, too, even though it is an enviable car.

The whole oil change thing is so true.
On my IS 500, I also have a 5,000 mile interval. The 2UR-GSE engine is weird though, and the dealership is most likely going to use a synthetic blend oil. So, I bring my own synthetic 5W-30 oil because I want to be able to drive it like I want and not worry about the oil life. I'm still doing 5,000-mile changes, though! But yeah, I had the same thing happen when I did my first oil change early to get the break-in crap out of there. "Well, technically you don't need to do this until 5,000 miles..." And on the wife's BMW, same thing. I'm sorry, I just don't buy it. 10,000 miles on the same oil with a boosted engine, driven by my lead-foot wife? No thank you. I will do 5,000.

The E39 M5 is so special. Really great to see another video on it.
My uncle had an E39 M5 that he seems to have really loved. He said it was "mind blowing at the time how fast it was" and sounded great, too. He said it was fun to drive all the time, not just in perfect conditions. Of course he ended up selling it and replacing it with a 997 Carrera, which is a damn good car that he still owns, but he says he still misses it.
Now, my wife has a 2021 330i with the M Sport package, and out of all the modern BMWs I have been in, it's one of the best. It's a lot of fun to throw around and is surprisingly quick. It even has a decent exhaust sound thanks to a dual-mode exhaust system. Sometimes the steering and brakes seem a bit too touchy and numb, but it's something I've gotten used to after a couple months with the car. I'd imagine it's nothing like the BMWs of the E39 era, but it's very 2020's-good, if that makes sense.

You know, what annoys me about the piped-in sound is that, in most of the cars that have it, it's not even necessary. Like, my wife's X3 doesn't have any piped-in sound at all, yet the engine is still audible when it's in Sport mode because there is a valved exhaust system (stock, btw... I can see the valve when I look in the rear exhaust tip on the driver's side). My IS 500 has piped-in sound, but I keep it turned off at all times because it isn't necessary. It is very much audible without it. Is it loud? No... but there is enough there that, even with the windows down at higher speeds, I can still hear at least the induction note. And if nothing else, having more-convincing engine noise would be nice.
And here's this GLS which sounds perfectly fine. I don't have any gripes with the sounds it makes. A GLS should not sound better than an AMG GT, or certainly, the GT shouldn't sound fake in comparison.
