My IS 500 with 5.0 liters of V-8 power makes more power than this 5.9-liter V-12, but shouldn't it? The engine is over a decade newer. But it also depends on what you want the car to do. In a Ferrari V-12, the car they are going to be used in is typically a higher-performance kind of vehicle. So, the engine is tuned to be more rev-happy and higher-horsepower. But, this Aston is more of a grand tourer. For that, you want a balance of effortless torque throughout the rev band and decent top end as well. This is reflected in the specs of the V-12 here - 426 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. Perhaps they could have tuned it differently to rev higher or make more peak power, but it may not have driven the way it was intended to.
