  1. I dig it. The only car I've driven in this class is the Macan. I think those two are probably more similar than the other German compact SUVs. The Italian GTI on stilts comparison definitely makes sense, though - the Alfa has a little too much sportiness to be considered as a "boring" luxury CUV kinda like you said. I really want to say I'd prefer the Giulia sedan, but darn it if this wouldn't be a more practical option.
