  5. Thank you for the list. I'm an African American woman. I have been to only one of these towns; Fresno. No one ever so much as gave me a dirty look there. My best friend, who is white, is from there. She actually met Martin Luther King Jr! True, I haven't been there in over 30 years, and I understand it's gang-infested now. But according to my experience, even if people eye me suspiciously, if I act respectable, they usually warm up after awhile. I've had very few problems with racism.
