  17. Be careful. When there were a whole bunch of carjackings in south Florida back in 2002, they advised tourists to do that. One couple did, and the carjackers ran them off the road and killed the man. Florida had to cut back on their tourist trade until the problem was resolved.

  20. Bullying was a major issue when I was growing up in Oakland CA un the 1970s. I admit, I did not handle them well. I was not allowed to fight back, and I was afraid of them. Looking back, I realize it was a just plain negative environment. I had a friend who was fiesty and had no qualms about defending herself, but there was always another fight, so her parents put her in a Christian school. In another incident, an Asian boy who was constantly bullied by a black girl snapped, and stabbed her with a butter knife, killing her. His parents sent him out of the country, to live with relatives. Bad as it was then, you can imagine what Oakland is like today.

  42.  @wkb8326  - you need to realize this man was born in 1930. Most people born that year - and many decades afterwards - were prudent enough to plan for their futures. Even if he wasn't, if he's rich enough to afford a car, surely he could fill the tank with gas, drive to a safe suburb, and apply for jobs there. So he has to claim some responsibility for what happened to him. This is as foolish as a woman strutting her stuff in Taliban country. If she knows it's barbarically sexist, she has no business going there in the first place.
