I was a smoker and quit. Sugar is much worse addiction.

Dude, I might recommend dropping the shout out from Ellen in your intro. She's been outted as a big meanie.
27
@dominiquedevereux7205 actually, there are many types of sugars... fructose, glucose, and galactose. Glucose and galactose can be directly metabolized by any tissues in your body. Fructose must be processed by your liver into fats before its used. Sucrose is table sugar in crystal form which is a glucose and fructose molecule stuck together; it is too big to absorb until its broken into parts by a digestive enzyme called sucralase. If you eat a bunch of table sugar, your blood sugar will get very high, but most people's systems down regulate the amount of sucralase in digestion to avoid problems with blood sugar going too high. The sucrose is then metabolized by bacteria or fungi in your large intestine that will largely make you very gassy, but this is more prefferable than hyperglycemia. Glucose is actually sold in some pure candies but also marketed to diabetics as emegency if they become hypoglycemic. Pure glucose can be absorbed directly by the body without any enzymes. There are other types of sugars like lactose that is barely sweet at all, or dextrose... many many types of sugars...

@pjmiller8632 yeah... I don't really know either way... It just struck me as a ploy to get me to watch his channel more. I really give two shits what Ellen thinks weather she's a big meanie or just a cancel culture victim. She's just another celebrity and I am biased to not trust celebrities that aren't Keanu Reeves.
7
Um, I asked a few real psychiatrists about Dr. amen and Geeze did I get a HUGE eye roll. He is not well respected among his peers. Not a quack, but, take him with a grain of salt. His main talent seems to be well spoken charisma...
6
@sherrysherry1083 health, God's way? What is he a faith healer? God's way is revealed to us by scientific discovery. Science has doubled life expectancy and made life on earth amazing in only a few hundred years. Do you think for a moment that God would permit us to have science unless it were not part of God's plan.
6
@valentinanocross8677 nope, I disagree. True greatness doesn't require a celebrity endorsement. True greatness is mastery of self, not who you know or who says nice things about you. Drop it.
6
@drjcobra2187 so start using common sense, readon and logic when you decide to post. If someone were addicted to sugar, I would recommend no sugar at all, not even fruit. To continue with any sugar would undermine the attempt to quit. I know this from first hand experience, you're just disagreeing for sake of disagreement.
5
@drjcobra2187 and I agree with you, that is why its harder to quit than nicotine. Sugar is just bad been struggling with it for 40 years, nicotine was much easier.
5
@drjcobra2187 God also made Poppies, but many live great lives without opioids.
4
@valentinanocross8677 my opinion stands. But fine, switch it to his best friend's voice. I would have the same opinion if it were any other celebrity. It still strikes me as a stupid celebrity endorsement that could have been deep faked into the intro, who knows? You don't see it as a celebrity endorsement because you're blind. If it quacks like a duck, and walks like a duck, it's probably a duck. Go on, argue that Ellen is not a celebrity and she didn't endorse the channel.
4
@samhallzero you don't know what research I did. You don't know what my background is. And I have known about this charlatan years ago when he did a Ted talk. I read his book. Also... Modern medicine isn't ideal, but people truly are living longer and better in direct contrast to your main point.
3
@grambina786 I have heard that a 72 hour fast is good to give digetive system a break and heal. Fix up leaky guts and whatnot. Do you recommend anything specific?
3
@lewishowes dude, seriously, change your intro. Celebrity shout-outs make you seem so... mediocre.
3
@dianeorr8937 we call that anecdotal evidence. It's completely valid question and a sign of a fine mind to ask for further references.
3
Drop the Ellen intro. She sucks and the school of true greatness doesn't need a celebrity endorsement. It makes you look weak.
2
@iaintwonderwoman5720 dude, I read his book. It wasn't that good.
2
@zelenplav1701 um, no that's not how it works. It may take 20 years to convince other people that a particular hypothesis is the best explanation for a typical observed phenomena is the correct one. Typically, a scientist will do research and write several papers about experiments around a group of similar hypotheses, when that scientist learns something new, it's probably every few months or so. Waiting 20 years for a scientist to produce results is absurd.
2
@happymarydorablah4539 God also gave a four year old a brain tumor that eventually killed him after several years of suffering. With that big brain of yours, maybe you can figure out why.
2
@thezyreick4289 did your mom help you with that Ad Hominem attack? Seriously, you could try being more clever, though it's likely you burned out all three of your brain cells on your previous joke.
2
@thezyreick4289 yes. I have a biological issue that is treatable with certain medications. I started taking the medication and I went from pretty average guy to significantly above average. I am a respected engineer and consultant. Without the medication, my job is nearly impossible. So it works pretty well for me. What do you do other than disrespect people on the internet? Jackass.
2
@drjcobra2187 Transuranic elements are natural parts of the world, but I wouldn't build my house out of them.
2
S K dairy? Never had a problem with it. Lactose makes me nauseous.
2
@grambina786 oh... i've been sprouting broccoli for sulforaphane... there is a coop local organic place down the street. Good salads.
2
@brianmcnary3960 I am convinced it's not a direct addiction to caffeine, people just like being awake.
2
@blondwiththewind2598 you do a victory garden too? Cool hobby.
2
@valentinanocross8677 You are excused, you must have mistaken me for someone who gives a shit what you think. It's a common mistake.
2
@valentinanocross8677 I recommend Buddhist meditation practice. So what? You're chasing after some illusory goal of personally developing into a better person, right? Neither this channel nor any meditation practice will do that. Truth is you are who you are and you will always be who you are. All you're doing is feeding your ego to make yourself feel good because you self conscience about who you are. Maybe you'll believe that if I get Ellen to say it.
2
Ask another psychiatrist or even two or three about this charismatic figure. Just to be sure.
1
No... if you're going to claim physics is evidence, you gotta use the RIGHT WORDS! Your gravitational field is because of your mass. It is remarkably small. You need an entire planet to make a large enough gravitational field to produce the weight you experience. I have heard mass of the body reduces slightly at the moment of death. There is a higgs field that permiates spacetime that gives all objects mass. Higgs field interacts with matter if its alive or dead, it does not discriminate. The electromagnetic field might be from ions traveling through axons and synapses. Its also tiny, but measurable with eeg. This stops at death.
1
Um... I asked a psychologist about this guy Dr. amen... Not exactly well respected among his peers. I would take him with a grain of salt.
1
@theresasantiago5904 You don't know anything about my doctor or why I see a specialist like her.
1
@blue_sky_bright_sun7599 nope, you're wrong. That shit is bad for you too. Just eat cooked meat and eggs, these are the best food.
1
@grambina786 ah... i heard the same thing with grapefruit.
1
@blue_sky_bright_sun7599 they say fruit is nature's candy....
1
@blue_sky_bright_sun7599 I said that and I am way smarter than you. Use some discrenment, mkay? Fruit is natures way of getting you to eat something with the hopes you'll shit the seeds out somewhere far away. The fruit trees are using you as a seed distribution mechanism by including their sickly poison...
1
@blue_sky_bright_sun7599 u mad, bruh?
1
Y @minniewalker2655
1
Um.... That's kinda creepy stalker talk... So and so is my xxxxxx they just don't know it? Ewe.
1
@pamelabaker6776 creepster
1
@sarahpcato how does one get over one's self? That expression or idiom makes no sense. you, however, need to get a better sense of humor. It wasn't remotely funny
1
Funny, as far as I can tell, the system has been increasing life expectancy year over year for the last century. What you described has nothing to do with the system, they are just called good decisions. If the system we're really screwed, you would not have the choice to make these decisions.
1
@seliar7586 so some people work for a piece of paper, IE money and you call this a waste if life? That's a bit insulting, we could say you wasted your life playing in the dirt. How about some respect and understanding that what you find meaningful may be different from what you find meaningful. Money, the paper, is largely just a means to an end, just like dirt is a means to an end.
1
@letmelickbud it's tacky to call out things that are tacky.
1
@TheVillageFairy I am aware of the idea though, I am fairly skeptical. It's possible, don't get me wrong, I really hope it's not true.
1
@TheHardTruth101 maybe he wants you to learn something. You're now attacking the person rather than his ideas. This is a clear sign you've lost the argument, probably has nothing to do with his original idea.
1
@seliar7586 u mad, bruh?
1
@seliar7586 us your name actually "Karen" ?
1
@seliar7586 yep, you're a Karen. You might want to read up on what that is, check out Urban Dictionary.
1
@seliar7586 it's called having marketable skills, Karen. I have more than enough money at the moment. Playing in the dirt is a waste of time, programming industrial robots is way more fun. Soon, no one will have to work. Trolling people like you is just a hobby, kinda a fun joke. You take yourself far too seriously. Relax and enjoy living a bit, learn to laugh at the stupid stuff you do sometimes.
1
@seliar7586 you just need to have the last word
1
@judylloyd7901 the world is a weird place, some activities are more valuable than others. Learning to work WITH people in society rather than be divisive and slander the people I care about is better than playing in the dirt.
1
@judylloyd7901 I callenge your idea on grounds of common sense. Our quality of life is much better than it ever had been before. Not even 100 years ago people had to deal with stuff like polio and we didn't really know how to cope with diabetes. There was no air conditioning, people would die of heat stroke in the hot summers fairly often. Infant mortality is also much lower because humans have a much better understanding of human biology. There a lot less quackery and resources like the internet allow anyone to research any claims to determine if someone is a quack or the real deal. Most of us in America are NOT farmers, is back breaking work that nearly all of our ancestors had to do, mostly without tractors. For thousands of years you were lucky if you had an ox and plow. Otherwise you'd have to plow by hand. Trust me, this age is preferable to any other point in history.
1
@crystalbluewire3339 that is kinda rude. The process of becoming a brain surgeon is asking questions questions like that.
1
How does a risk factor destroy a brain? Wouldn't it be more accurate to say that some bad habit, like smoking, for instance, is destroying your brain? Do you have an editor that passed sixth grade?
1
@truth-alwayswins you are a scholar and a gentleman. Thank you!
1
@loturzelrestaurant Bullshit. What evidence do you have that indicated this alleged more success comes to you by "diversifying source of knowledge"? What do you consider successful? Which ancient texts are you referring to? I am sure there is a point where you'll end up with contradictory information which would likely lead to confusion. I do not think what to you think is obvious. Besides, the genetically modified skeptic is an irritating evangelist for atheists.
1
@loturzelrestaurant don't care
1
@seemsfamiliar3888 Fame is a lousy and selfish goal. Working on an image rather than your content seems dishonest. I think a celebrity endorsement is disingenuous.
