I think people who went through that dark night of addiction are probably way more "moral" than those who avoided that challenge. You voluntarily recognized a better version of yourself and probably went through hell to get there. Not many people do that. Maybe it took a lot of effort to work through that addiction. Maybe it's a skill, being moral, and being happy. It's somewhat of an awareness thing, some people are just not conscience enough to be aware that they do things that make them unhappy or immoral.

Hey... I am an activist for "Right to Repair". I think we should all pressure companies to make repairable products.

WINE THAT GOES WITH chicken: Thunderbird, MD-20/20, Boone’s Farm. I'm black today!

@HaIsKuL irrelevant. You're still a carrier even if you're vaccinated. Iceland health officials has determined the only way to get to heard immunity is to just let people get on with normal life
4
@young1939 yeah, science at universities is a complete shit show of who can win the grant money. I think we have incentivized a lot of misbehaviors
4
Science is about objective observation, hypothesis about the causes of said objective observation, and tests to see if the hypothesis is correct. Factual information can be in a grey area of bias, I stick to the objective observation

I just checked... There isn't any global warming since the 1950s that can't be accounted for by solar output and urban heat island.

But democracy is unstable, it invariably descends into mob rule or corruption. This is why america is a Republic with elected representatives. Our public schools are super shitty, the roads are alway broken, and our scientists are all convinced the world is going to overheat or something.
2
Climategate really changed my mind.
2
Even better question... Why are the poles warming faster than the equator? There's far more CO2 at the equator, where the oceans are warm and the earth rotation and tidal forces pull the atmosphere to be much thicker...
2
Also... There's a ton of data on "earth shine" as measured by how dark the shadowed part of the moon... Apparently, earth shine is way down, so our planet isn't reflecting as much light. That energy has to go somewhere.

@Assassin5671000 facts are interpretations of potentially larger truths about reality. Factually, I could say this table is level with the ground. What I really mean is the normal of the table surface is parallel to the gravitational vector, but no one ever says that.
2
What about corporate control of the government.
2
@eustacebagge3869 yeah. I like smaller government. I want to see more transparency and less smoke and mirrors. I want to pull corporate lobbyists...
2
Ultimate amounts of stupidity. Anthropogenic CO2 actually IMPROVES the climate by making plants grow and manage water much better. There is no evidence that the relatively minor amount of warming has caused any major climate shifts. Models used for empirical evidence are flawed and predict too much warming in the wrong places.
2
The government doesn't have a legitimate roll to do anything other than govern. You can't expect the government to ensure a safe food supply, that's YOUR job.
2
I want to be like Escalate.

This is a great system for people with average intelligence or better. What do we do with people with lower intelligence that just aren't capable to participate effectively?

Sixth mass extinction... Yet no one can nane a single species that went extinct in the last twn years.

"We lived in harmony with nature" What? Are you kidding me? Nature has over 9000 ways to murder you and many of these are quite painful. If that's your idea of harmony, I really don't want to know what your idea of dissonance...

I really think those things about Trump are kinda nuanced.
1
Warren wants to penalize people for hard work and success.
1
Thankyou for not being biased and showing both sides of a serious issue!

Investment is fundamentally an exploitive process.
1
Sorta like Obamacare is corporate welfare for big hospitals and big pharma

Well said!!!

It's the flippening... The left used to be funny, real...
1
It's the government mistrust... No mandates. My body my choice. I chose the vaccine. Freedom means I have the choice to be selfish and foolish if I so desire.
1
Government is too big. Reset!

John Kerry is a terrible grifter.
1
Meta humor... That was so true.
1
It is a person with rights. The state isn't providing protection against murder, the state is protecting inalienable rights for life and liberty
1
Meh... get back to work you slackers!
1
Labor department can't make laws.
1
@goodolearkygal5746 well said. You are a scholar and gentleman/lady.
1
@Assassin5671000 yes... But gravity is not actually a force, it's actually a slight bend in three dimensional space time caused by matter interacting with the Higgs Field.
1
@level94836 science is a method to logically determine the nature of reality. On a small scale we actually model the earth as flat, your table is level if it's 90 degrees from the direction of gravity. Larger scales, this doesn't work. boats disappear on the horizon bottom first, mast last. you can observe the sunset twice in a clear day, once at ground level, again at the top of a large hill or tall building. This requires an explanation, the earth being somewhat spherical is a great explanation for the apparent observations. But you need argue that with the carpenters, I guess.

Thomas Sowel is one of the greatest minds of our century, if we could clone one man, it would be Sowell.
1
The monster they have been nurturing at the universities has grown beyond their control.
1
I agree, though, I won't be buying this. It's going to be tough to find a fulfilling relationship, but that's part of to the price you pay.
1
People don't like it because it demands personal responsibilities.
1
So... why are they above the law? Why don't the get fined?
1
Trust no one.
1
Stupid is contagious.
1
There would be some people that would do well, others that would invest well....
1
@eustacebagge3869 well, government control of businesses is socialism... But corporate control of the government is... corporatism? Seems like a bad idea...

New energy sources transform human existence. Proto humans discovered cooking over a wood fire allowed for a vastly more nutritious diet and it mad the food safer. This leads to a human that can grow a very well developed brain. Harnessing animal energy lead to agricultural revolution and development of cities. Technology increases when smart people meet up. Fast forward to the use of coal energy, humans started the industrial revolution. Then came oil, and it's even better energy. Finally... Atomic energy just might be the energy source that allows us to colonize space.

@normangoldstuck8107 hydrocarbons might be dead algae, some people think it's natural carbon deposits that get wet, squished and heated. I did hear somewhere that there's an absurd amount of dirt bacteria undergound.

Wow! Merry Christmas to both of these great men!
