So... The jet stream went north in the 1700s BEFORE the industrial revolution? And that made bad weather? How was that caused by CO2?

@latonywoods9581 no, the phenomenon you are describing is local weather, not climate. These variations, while unusual are within range of a temperate climate. Please understand the difference between climate and weather before you embarrass yourself even more.

@atlantic_love I just checked. Sea ice coverage is about the same as it was in the early 80's. I know you're going to cry about thick ice vs thin ice and you know what I am going to say? Show me the data. I will not accept the results of some theoretical model that shows what climate "scientists" predict what the thickness is, we all know they are seriously biased to generate more click bait. I want real verified data.

@darylephillips6778 excuse me... but why would the ocean currents stop? The poles will continue to be cold. The equator will continue to be warm. There will still be an ocean current of some sort. Nothing short of the sun boiling away the oceans will stop the ocean currents. Just like EVERYTHING on this planet things CHANGE. I am sure the ocean currents will change, the undersea "climates" are probably fairly variable as over sea climates. I think you're only reading the sensational headline ariticles designed to scare you. Fear and anxiety are agents of the dark side. They reduce activity in the prefrontal cortex and separate you from critical thinking abilities. There is power in the dark side, but its blind and destruction flows from the blind application of power.

@latonywoods9581 We sure could live on another world, but we would need to recreate an earth like environment. Humans are pretty good at recreating environments. You're forgetting that humanity is relatively small compared to the atmosphere. You're also making wild assumptions about what I am saying. I do not deny that humans are affecting the climate or that climate change isn't happening. I am aware that CO2 is increasing and there's compelling evidence to support that humans are causing this. I just find that CO2 being the thermostatic control of average temperatures and extreme weather events to be unlikely and really poor science. The reasons why there is some reported warming is more complex. There is compelling evidence that solar radiation and planetary albedo play a lot into climate change. I am also not convinced that a hot earth means everything becomes a desert, rather it seem everything becomes tropical rainforest. Fossil evidence suggests that tropical rainforests grew in Antarctica at one point.

@latonywoods9581 glaciers recently retreated revealing bronze age artifacts. It's likely the regional climate was not glacial and humans lived there, then glaciers arrived and left their stuff in a big hurry. Then there was the little ice age, the Thames river froze over solid. That didn't happen the previous century, but it did during the maunder minimum. Those are examples of climate changes that occured in less than 100 years, not caused by anthropogenic CO2

@latonywoods9581 got any more points you want debunked, Stoopid?

@atlantic_love I think they predicted 100% less ice in the Arctic by 2015.... But I guess the ice decided not to melt. There are boats currently stuck in the ice that reformed. I think those sea captains might disagree with youm

Like nuclear bombs. China...

@Jc-ms5vv so this one time, there were volcanic eruptions that filled entire continent with lava. There was one about the same time the large asteroid impact the ended the Cretaceous period and another roughly correlated with the permian period. These are called basalt floods and naturally caused a lot of species to go extinct. Factories and power plants that burn a few rocks and selective goo are geologic small potatoes compared to volcanic plumes from the outer core that burns everything. Only thing I can think of that 😃 s remotely as powerful are several thousand dirty nukes. I worry that china will do something like that

@atlantic_love the Jetstream isn't broken. If global warming were caused by anthropogenic CO2, the tropical troposphere would be much warmer than it currently is. CO2 is a well mixed gas, the models all predict much more warming in that area, but it's not observed by either weather balloon OR satellite measurements.
