The good old days, when beer came with a pull tab.....

Too bad nobody actually makes a crossply tyre any more, except for a few speciality shops who produce them specifically for older vehicles which need them. Expensive to buy, and with a shelf life, but they still sell pretty much all they can make to the car collector market, and to those who own vintage and veteran vehicles who want them to look fully original. Almost universally replaced with the radial tyre these days.

Firing torpedoes that were, in the most part, defective by design as well. There were a lot of them that posed a greater danger to the ship firing them than the enemy.

Of course depends on having those spare parts available, and also that your operator has confidence that those spare parts actually are going to work. Not always the case that you have spares, and that they are guaranteed to work, especially for parts that have been in storage for a long time before you use them.

Product placement, advertising responsible drinking, so of course the largest brewer would like to get free advertising in something that will be flighted in cinemas as a free PSA advert.

Yes, fuel consumption was constant, along with top speed. Exactly the same range irrespective of loaded, unloaded, with a caravan on the back, or not. Top speed the same going up hill and down hill, with or without the caravan, though with the caravan stopping was somewhat longer. Could not go past the fuel station, without stopping to fill that tank though.

@rayjames6096 Not in all markets though, they had smaller tanks outside the USA.

@rayjames6096 BIL had one he bought well used here in South Africa, and it had a smaller tank, probably to fit into load regulations for the pick up market for it's size. 3 speed auto, he really wanted to find the overdrive for it, but was never able to afford them when they did pop up.

@MyNameIsChristBringsASword Yes, but that was pretty much in every advert then somewhere. Plus the tobacco industry would pay for about half the advertising sold in cinema, using all those artistic wide open spaces film of the treat outdoors, where you smoked to get the city feel back.

Air over hydraulic suspension, so you added air when loading it, to get it back to level again. Basically pumped up the shock absorbers to give a stiffer ride when loaded. If you did not dump it you would find the rear was prone to bouncing around and stepping out in corners.

@alphaomega8373 Done that with modern tyres though, especially those used for low speed and rough terrain, where a tube is preferred over replacing nearly new tyres regularly. Yes tubes are harder to get for passenger car sizes, but common in commercial and trailer use.
