You were lucky they cancelled the cruise, because many others would have carried on, letting the cancellation come in after return, saying it arrived after they departed.

@crazeelazee7524 Yes but often the cruise lines shop around for the cheapest inspection price, take the list of defects and promise to fix them "soon", which could lead to never, as that list is simply filed away and forgotten as soon as they are out of port. Plenty of cases of this being done, latest was UK registered ferries firing all the crews and replacing with cheap untrained labour, because that way they do not have to pay UK wages and such, just the minimum wage for Bangladesh or wherever they wrangle cheap crews from. Often the crews now are not actually able to speak or read English, simply because they never were taught, but are now working with a ship exclusively operated in English.
