Yes a bus will float for a while, till it fills with water, as there have been many tragic examples of. This led to the requirement that all buses have to have glass break hammers by the windows, as it was found the windows that you can push out, the previous standard, were not effective if you were a child, or somebody not strong and fit. Took a busload of children going into a lake to get that one enforced.

Archimedes, the one who figured out how to prove a goldsmith was cheating the king, by adulterating the gold used to make a crown, with cheaper silver and copper. Did not end well for the cheater.
