  1. Really depends on the manufacturer and how much they wanted to spend on the actual dye. Verbatim super azo dye is probably the best, I have some 20 year old CD-R disks that are perfectly readable, with only minimal attention to storage ( in a jewel case in a box in a cupboard) while the cheap common disks are suffering from bit rot after only a year or two of storage.
