@claudiadriesler7285 In the UK we have hardly any pro-Russia right-wingers: if anything it's more on the far left where our Russia sympathisers are located.

@Godzilla_Star_Eater Where does your girlfriend visit exactly? My understanding is that Moscow and St Petersburg are nice but the rest of Russia is an utter shithole.

Perhaps because to be "far far" either you kind of have to hate your own country.

Isn't 2014 more or less when MAGA started in the first place?

Anyone wonder if Russia is paying Joe Rogan, or perhaps that they have kompromat on him?

In 1995 Immanuel Wallerstein said to a shocked Russian audience that "your next presidents will bear epaulets. You can't have anything else. You'll resume the Cold War with America because you are a semi-periphery country specialised on creating new conflicts"

@Azmodan3000 You mean the Teufelslied?

@joaovitormatos8147 I thought the word for "warmonger" that I heard was "Kriegstreiber" rather than "Kriegshetzer"?
1
@Davidt1066 Maybe those two German words mean basically the same thing, but "Kriegstreiber" was definitely the word I heard Scholz use.

The weird thing is that the supporters of all French political parties lean anti-Russia, so any pro-Russia leanings of party leaders are likely down to kompromat: Percentage Anti-Russia (from a June 2023 survey by the Fondation Jean-Jaurès): La France Insoumise: 75% Communist Party: 93% Socialist Party: 86% Green Party: 94% All Left Parties: 86% Renaissance Party (formerly En Marche): 96% All Presidential Coalition Parties: 93% Republican Party: 89% All Centre-Right Parties: 88% National Rally: 77% Reconquête: 58% All Far-Right Parties: 74% Non-Partisan: 88%

@iustitiaepervenit Bots by definition can't "imagine" anything, as they only do what they're programmed to do!

Or because the Kremlin has video footage of them raping a child. In the early 1970s at the start of the Troubles in Northern Ireland Joe Cahill (one of the founders of the Provisional IRA) was accused of rape by the the young daughter of another IRA leader: instead of prosecuting him, the British blackmailed him into becoming a double agent for them. Yuri Andropov (then head of the KGB) learned of this through a mole in MI6, and was inspired to develop an industrial production line for traitors. The first step was to seek out politically active young men with predatory sexual tendencies (Maria Burina was busted in 2018 for doing this at NRA events). They would then be groomed by other Russian agents in increasingly depraved activities, with the final step being filmed underage sex. Only a few of the traitors thus produced would end up in public office: most would be used to help that few on their way. Kind of like how during the Falklands War the RAF used about a dozen Victor tankers to get a single Vulcan bomber to its target of Port Stanley.

One thought I've often had about Western right-wingers supporting Russia is "Stepan Bandera must be spinning in his grave like a neutron star"!

Almost all of Russia's male fifth columnists in the West are sexual predators, and the reason for this is the KGB/FSB recruitment process.

@tumultoustortellini Putin overestimated "King Gas" much as the Confederates overestimated "King Cotton".

I suspect the freedom that American conservatives are trying to defend by supporting Russia is the freedom to burn as much fossil fuel as they like: they believe Russia (as a country whose economy depends on oil and gas exports) will help defend their way of life against environmentalists who aim to destroy it.
