  2. AFAIK Crimea's population was 65% ethnic Russian and only 20% Ukrainian, which is likely why the West didn't respond more forcefully in 2014 -- they were played by Putin then just as they were played by Hitler in 1938 re the Sudetenland.

IIRC the main potential nuclear target near enough for me to worry about would be the Durham City railway viaduct (apparently a weak point in the East Coast Main Line) -- how far down the list of UK nuclear targets is that?
