@blueeyeswhitedragon9839 No: 1. No Olympic games were held during WWII of course, 2. I think @stevemcgowen was referring to the Winter Olympics in China that came immediately before Russia invaded Ukraine.

While countries have boycotted Olympics games in protest at the host country's policies, there's never been a case of a nation being banned from participating AFAIK.

Of course she may be in a part of Ukraine where most people of her age speak Russian as their first language.

 @SoundofSilence492 The West made the same mistake re Crimea in 2014 as they did re the Sudetenland in 1938: they let an aggressor take over a land where their own co-ethnics were a majority.
