Russia's economy is of course dominated by exporting oil and gas (and Russia has the coldest climate of the world's major powers), which would give them a natural interest in opposing climate action. I wonder how many rural and exurban Americans support Russia because they believe Russia would defend their fossil fuel heavy lifestyles (eg monster SUVs and pickup trucks) against attacks by environmentalists? Or as James Howard Kunstler put it back in 2005, "American will vote for cornpone Nazis before they will give up their entitlement to a McHouse and a McCar."
