@grantadamson3478 If Putin is losing the war badly enough that he thinks he's a dead man regardless then it doesn't matter whether he values his own life or not. I suspect the actual erroneous belief that restrains the West is the belief that Putin could launch a nuclear strike all by himself to "take the bastards with me".

I'm partial to Phillip Hallam-Baker's hypothesis that the Kremlin hacked Fox News back in 2014 and used it to engineer a sex scandal that removed Ailes and O'Reilly, and replaced them with Russian stooges Hannity and Carlson.

Chamberlain appeased Hitler to buy time to rearm (after Hitler got the jump on the Western democracies using massive deficit spending, much of it concealed from the outside world via the Mefo bills strategem). I don't think that's why Trump wants to appease Putin...

To be fair Denmark took a similar lesson from their defeat by the Germans in 1864, which is why they didn't even try to resist the German invasion of 1940.
