@Celebmacil I sometimes wonder also if Finland will regain Karjala, if Ukraine will gain Kuban, or Japan will reclaim Karafuto (= Sakhalin) in the event of a Russian collapse.

@AkaSora96 I guess it would depend on whether the West is mad enough by the time this war is over to countenance expelling Russian populations, much as Germans were expelled from much of eastern Europe after WWII. Although Kuban was originally colonized by Ukrainian cossacks, and thus could conceivably re-Ukrainianized: would it be that much more difficult than de-Russifying Crimea?

@AkaSora96 Hence my caveat on "whether the West is mad enough": bad as Putin's atrocities are, they still aren't in anything like the same league as Hitler's (27 million Soviet and 6 million Polish citizens killed, along with more than a million Jews murdered from elsewhere in Europe).

Although doesn't Britain have a milder version of Russia's WWII victory disease, perhaps being one of the factors contributing to Brexit?
