@admiralmonocle3874 No, but their battle experience against Russia would be invaluable for training NATO soldiers.

Which non-Tesla, non-Chinese EV brands would people here recommend?

The definition of "treason" in US law is extremely narrow, pretty much only applying to collaborating with a country in a state of hot war with the US (so Russia wouldn't count). Even the Rosenbergs were (strictly speaking) executed for espionage rather than treason.

Water is arguably a unique commodity because of how much of it we need, especially for agricultural use.

@Lasse65 Crimea was never an integral part of the Ottoman Empire. It was still the Crimean Khanate (albeit an Ottoman satellite state) 1430-1793, and it was still part of Russia (albeit demilitarized by treaty) 1856-1917.

There are also Koreans in Sakhalin, who were left over from when (part of) the island was Japan's Karafuto prefecture.

It's "Rasputitsa" actually, although given that's a Russian word maybe we should think of switching to the Ukrainian equivalent "Bezdorizhzhiya"?

@unnamedchannel1237 For starters, some countries are planning to outright ban sales of new ICE cars in the not-too-distant future.

Note that when Russian racists talk about "black" people they generally aren't referring not to Africans but to Caucasians such as Chechens, Georgians or Armenians. One reason why I detest the common Western usage of "Caucasian" to mean "white" (as opposed to someone actually from the Caucasus).

Given Putin's attempts to starve the Middle East with a Black Sea blockade (presumably to try to flood Europe with more refugees) I've thought it would be nice if this war ends with Ukraine sharing a border with Georgia! "From the San to the Caucasus" as the song goes...

How many people here have seen that map from Reddit of Russia broken up into 30 countries, with Finland doubled in size and Japan annexing the entirety of Sakhalin Oblast?

Slava natsiyi, smert' voroham!

Alexander the Great conquered the Middle East though, not Europe.

I'm happy I understood the reference! Of course that incident was in large part a result of the multilingual nature of the Austrian Empire...

Which alternative options would you suggest for EVs, especially for people who also wish to avoid Chinese brands?
1
Musk's role in making EVs aspirational made him an obvious threat to the Russian petrostate, and he was obviously too much of an egomaniac to realize that this would make him a target to be suborned by the Russian intelligence services.

Trump actually got considerably more votes in 2020 than in 2016 (although the Democratic vote increased by more still): likely protest votes against Covid shutdowns.

Do you have any accounts on sites (eg Mastodon, BlueSky, Threads) often promoted as alternatives to Twitter/X?
