@tetraxis3011 There has never been any proof of oppression of Russian speakers in Ukraine. The only thing Z posters point to us Ukraine making Ukrainian the sole official language but that's not even close to oppression. Russian is spoken as a second language by most Ukrainians and is still used by administration as a second language in many places.

Can't recall this ever happening in Denmark.

Apart from it being an inherently irrational position then I guess no there's nothing wrong with it but that can be said about any wrong belief.
1
I don't think it's standard though, you wouldn't see anything like it in most of Europe. Also it being normal doesn't make it good.
1
Why?
1
You'd never find anything like this in most of Europe.

@lucianaromulus1408 You're really gonna seriously claim that Poland is better off than Germany, or Czechia? Both of those countries are much richer and don't have insane right wing authoritarians in government. Also the countries with the highest standards of living in the world, the Nordic countries, all rank extremely low in surveys about nationalism so you're just straight up wrong. If we were to look at the evidence then we'd conclude that nationalism is a dangerous poison to a country, a lesson that most Nordic countries learned a long time ago.

@Jaiyro Weird how those bodies ended up in Macedonia.

@MsThePrettiest Yes because obviously racism instantly ends whenever someone from a minority group gets into some important position. That's why racism in the US ended in 2008 when Barak Obama was elected president.

The US Army very deliberately preys on vulnerable populations such as indigenous groups or black people and that's why they make up an disproportionate part of the army. Especially for indigenous peoples living on reservation joining the army is often one of the only options for getting a higher education as they have basically no access to scholarships and their families can't pay for it on their own. It's a result of these areas generally being deprived of any kind of economic opportunity while they're often used as dumping grounds for pollution. It goes so far that a lot of the time the states will just outright take away major opportunities for them, like with the proposed Nuclear Deposition site in the Mojave which was located on indigenous land but the state just went "no actually we want that federal money" and now the US has no long term solution for nuclear waste.

Your idea of politics doesn't include stuff like patriarchy and sexism I guess?
1
The Imperium is a pretty apt comparison considering how Russia is using old barely maintained tech from it's Soviet glory days while being a slowly crumbling power that no one else takes seriously that is being rotted away on the inside by corruption.
1
Best of luck to you and I hope you can move out at some point and come out of the closet.
1
I can't really think of any European country that does it, at best it'd be seen as a waste of time and tax payer money here and at worst as a form of indoctrination.
1
And the US is now the arbiter of what is and isn't good?
1
Yes that definitely happened, because y'know America is famously left wing. it's not at all like it has a reputation for being extremely right wing.
1
@craftah So you don't understand why it's creepy to force children to love their country no matter what? I think the problem here is that you're creepy.
1
@janslavik5284 Germany is an example to the world, the problem is that more countries aren't like them in this aspect.
1
@Linara35 You literally sound identical to imperialism apologists from all countries, it's really quite amazing how similar the bad arguments are.
1
Are you actually insane?
1
@afterburner9209 Lets assume that you're correct, which you very obviously aren't, if it wasn't about pledging allegiance to the US why is it's flag involved and why do you say it's name during the pledge? But lets assume you are. In that case is it still acceptable to force children to swear allegiance to certain political principles? I agree that equality and liberty are good things but that doesn't mean that forcing children to swear allegiance to them are a good thing, and forcing someone to swear allegiance to liberty is quite contradictory. Not to mention that these concepts are pretty malleable and don't have clear definitions and a lot of people clearly seek to define them in ways that are advantageous to themselves. Like how you get Republicans in the US defining liberty in a way that means denying poor people healthcare, forcing people into debt slavery to get an education, and oppressing minorities. Surely it would be better if you just actually taught children about these concepts and the history of democracy and various civil rights groups so that they themselves can arrive at the conclusion freely, y'know what liberty is actually supposed to mean.
1
@SourceHades I like how you make an equivocation between literal indoctrination and just regular history and culture classes. Everyone has history classes but history is not a subject that's meant to glorify anything or anyone, it's a science that's meant to help you understand why the world is as it is today. If it's being done right then most of the time it'll probably make you feel somewhat uncomfortable because no country has a perfect record.
1
Why?
1
@frozenphoenix9502 They didn't do anything because technically the right to not participate is protected by the 1st amendment, and that was upheld by the Supreme Court. However very often you'll still see teachers and schools harassing students who refuse to participate and it's obviously not easy for a kid to protect themselves in that situation. Maybe the teachers figured that your family had enough money to actually bring this to court if they harassed you.
1
And how many kids do you think know about that and how often do you think teachers and schools actually respect it? Unless you're from a family that can actually press charges there is literally nothing you can do if your teachers try to force you.
1
@seanC3i That's literally just a lie Republicans made up. But also even if that happened how is it any worse than the actual pledge.
1
Also worth remembering that Nazi Germany was just as horrible towards queer people as it was towards jews. You might have seen an upside down pink triangle used by some LGBTQ organizations, that was the symbol queer people were identified with in Nazi concentration camps and has been adopted as a symbol of resistance. Also not very fun fact, queer people were the only group that were not freed from the concentration camps after the liberation of Europe. Another not very fun fact Russia already has concentration camps for queer people in Chechnya.

@intermilan9731 Well it's the shit that boils down to "granddads get to rape their granddaughters" so yeah it's evil.
1
@tylerclayton6081 In what fucking world are Americans more critical of their government than anything else? Americans literally go out of their way to show how much they love cops and blindly support the military. In the west Americans are without a doubt the most blindly nationalistic people. Come back to me when you have massive nation wide riot every second year because the government wants to lower the pension age by like 2 months like they do in France.
1
That doesn't make it any less weird.
1
@artyomarty391 It sounds like your definition of propaganda is literally just acknowledging that stuff like slavery happened or that white supremacism is a thing. So essentially propaganda=anything you don't like hearing about.
1
It is a bad thing to indoctrinate children into certain beliefs.
1
@intermilan9731 Well the issue is that you're a fascist so of course you support indoctrination and hate criticism.
1
@EphemeralProductions Good.
1
@TheGugac Ah yes how horrible of a school to teach children about a sociological theory, because y'know schools aren't supposed to teach children about anything. And oh the horror of seeing a dude wearing a dress, truly frightening stuff. It's always funny to me that the supposedly macho Russians are scared to death by a dude wearing dress and a make up. But I guess it makes sense when they're kicking your asses on the battlefield.
1
@craftah Says a guy who has definitely visited most of Europe and is not a Russian bot.

@agustincuello493 The 19th century and WWI and II made it clear to most Europeans that nationalism was a dangerous thing that just led to mutual death and destruction. We collectively decided that Europe had, had enough of war and decided that it'd be better to pursue closer cooperation to avoid future wars, hence why the EU was created. The experience with fascists also made it clear that trying to promote blind loyalty rather than encourage democratic traditions and discussion was very dangerous. Hence why Europeans today aren't all that fond of nationalism necessarily, except when it comes to football. Russia, Poland and Hungary however seem to have forgotten the lessons of history and are repeating the exact same mistakes. Also like it's just a pointless waste of time that the schools could spend on actual education, like they're supposed to.
