This happened to the van I live in. I was inside a friend’s house and we were trying to find the owner of a bag I Found- the owner had obviously been robbed. The thieves took all my work tools, clothes, food, etc etc. they stole things they couldn’t possibly use also. Neighbors found the debris in the ditches for several blocks. I never got anything from insurance. I never replaced the tools and got other work instead. It destroys your sense of safety and justice. Everyone I know in the Seattle area has been robbed more than once. Home break-ins. It’s ordinary for a friend to call for a ride to go pick up their stolen car at the tow yard. I carry pepper spray at all times and when I go for a walk I carry a very sturdy stick. My friend has one with a taser hidden in it. I’m in the middle of moving to a friend’s barn in the country. Because I fully expect things to get worse. Seattle is down hundreds of cops.
