  2. I had a friend who grew up in the depression. They lived out of an old truck, went farm to farm. Everyone except the babies worked. He showed me a photo of the family lined up in front of the truck, their greatest possession. Only the father had shoes. The girls were in flour sack dresses. Even the bows in their hair were made of flour sacks. He told me a lot of stories of those years. He is scaled poverty by becoming a soldier.
