  2. People who stayed to fight for their homes and businesses succeeded. They prepared because they didn’t trust the leadership. One guy said a small amount of water would have stopped the fires from consuming his neighbors’ homes. He was able to save two nearby homes in addition to his own.

  8.  @josephsimmons9241  I’ve lived through two wildfires in two places in Washington state. Lost my place and couldn’t rebuild in the first case. In the second case I was renting. I didn’t stay to fight because I didn’t have the equipment or preparation. I cleared my property but my neighbors refused to deal with theirs. So everything burned right into the ground with all that dry fuel. I did feel the heat from those flames. I wouldn’t risk staying behind. That man took his chances to save his house, he has no reason to lie about what could have been done to save his area. He said there was not a single truck or firefighter to be seen. Another man prepared in advance with a generator , pump, hoses, etc. I think he was a surgeon. Griffiths. I think in Malibu area.
