  1. I helped my friend pack up and leave downtown Portland. It really has gone downhill. I used to love visiting, so many bookstores. People live in the towers, coming and going through secure parking garages— like a weird science fiction movie. I noticed lots of the condos never had signs of life, no lights, no furniture on the patios.
