  1.  @katie7748  I grew up in NYC but since leaving I learned how to ride, train and doctor horses. I did an internship with a farrier and another with a vet. Gathered plenty of books. The city is not going to be the place to live freely the way things are going. No way to keep a horse there. You can get a healthy mustang horse for $150. Lots of pasture lands available. They don’t need housing. My horses always have the choice of where to hang out, in the open door barn or the pastures- they prefer even in snow storms to stand among the trees. Icelandic horses are ideal in cold climates. Smart minds, great hooves, strong.

  8. Just to add: horses don’t need much. A few vaccines to ward off things like strangles and West Nile. It’s easy and cheap to worm them. They don’t need all the fancy feed that manufacturers produce. They evolved on grasslands with varied plants, not pure alfalfa and oats.
