  5. Get kids involved with things like 4H. Great for making lifelong friends and learning useful skills. There’s a good book called Hold On to Your Kids. Not the best title but it talks about how to keep the position of the most important influences in your kids’ lives.

  14. Stay fit, dress well, go to the gym, pursue your interests- this will make her nervous and start looking in the mirror. I would say maybe she is depressed except that she said that stuff to you. Maybe suggest a regular date night to inspire her to dress up. Notice any efforts she makes. I had to learn how to shape my husband’s behavior and not nag— part of that was noticing all the good stuff he did, not taking anything for granted, saying thank you, putting love notes or something humorous in his lunch bag, making the effort to try new and healthy recipes every week. I stayed in shape to make him proud to be seen with me. I wish you luck. Marriage isn’t easy.
