This exchange of comments is the best thing I’ve found so far in this section. (I always read through the comments on good videos).
Reductive. And stereotypes. Maybe that is what sells. Attention spans are shorter perhaps.
The small town where I grew up is having a movie made there based on a book. Not sure I want to see it.
I lived for a while on a remote ranch among many other ranches, 30,000 acre places. The nearest town was an hour away and had only a few buildings. Some visitors came and called this ranch a godforsaken place, found nothing interesting. I was in love with it, the changing light throughout the day, the animals and plants, the winding rivers, seeing the moon rise around the edge of the planet, the brilliance of the stars. Residents had huge libraries at home and a great social life. If there was a wedding , everyone was invited , even people at the campground. Residents had time in winter to make art, write and share music, and read a lot.
It broke all my notions about cowboys and ranchers and ranch life.
I suppose a movie about a remote Irish island that includes some happy creative people doesn’t have enough drama.
