  3. All anyone has is the present day to enjoy. I could have traveled the world doing service jobs like at restaurants during my twenties. By 30 I had done such jobs only in NY. And had the same result - zero savings. I would have preferred to have seen a bit of the world and made some friends.

  4. My friend lived to nearly 106- still played violin and piano, did some of the farm work. We went sledding when she was 100šŸ˜„. You may have 30 good years of exploring ahead.

  5. This is what we do also. We buy from farms, freeze things. We can order meat from a ranch. I might make a stew on a Sunday, freeze portions to take to work through the week.

  6. I worked full time and went to college full time. I had no time to make friends or do a year abroad or get internships. No employer ever asked to see proof.

  7. Some of the drinking was done in pubs- a social place. A drink after work at your local- where everyone knows your name and people want to talk and have a laugh. Then came TVs. I was at an ā€œIrishā€ bar last night- screens on every wall, the volume so loud it was difficult to have a conversation with the group. Makes me want to set up a shebeen in the woods, no electronics allowed.

  11. When I was a receptionist, I paid attention to my voice more and the effect it could have. I practiced knowing peopleā€™s names, the names of their children or pets. I kept some index cards of how to say polite greetings in various languages. I learned the meanings of names- because people like to talk about where they got their name.

  20. Ā @traciebushnell1425Ā  I was just at the apartment of a friendā€™s mother- trying to get her up with coffee, juice and toast, reminding her she needs to shower and get dressed. Itā€™s my way of helping my friend have time to do her own housework - she lives next door. Her mom sometimes forgets who I am. She will be needing a live-in helper soon.

  22. Find a naturopathic doctor if you can. Try different foods. I gave up grains and my joint pains evaporated.
