  1. Dropped health insurance years ago. Yes, it’s scary. Had to pay for an ER visit once. I pay in full for any dentist appointment. But not having a doctor means I don’t get any prescriptions, just have to be responsible for my own health , physical and mental. I seem to be thinner and healthier than my friends and relatives with insurance. I buy food when it’s 50% off- organic meat and eggs. I trade work for farm produce. I pick berries for free. My van is from 1999, no payments. My van is off the road as I walk to work now and I’m trying to save up an emergency fund again. I don’t go to bars , cafes and restaurants- I carry my meals to work and a thermos. I buy clothes and shoes at sample sales. I use the WiFi at work and the library. No tv but I read lots of books, work on art projects. I trim my own hair. I don’t know what else to cut. Old phone and a cheap plan. The phone is necessary to get work. Ideas welcome.

  5. Don’t feel guilty. You worked and planned. But build a huge emergency fund.
