  1. One of my best friends is in his 80s. I love learning all sorts of handyman stuff, logging trees, fixing cars, repairing trailers and houses. He moved to Idaho and I really miss hanging out and going to the Eagles on karaoke night.

  2. I read a book called The Enchanted Hour—-it’s about how much good it does to read aloud to your kid- even when they are old enough to read. Check it out. You as a father are super-important to your girl.

  3. I’m careful not to talk about other people’s private business. And I try to warn younger co-workers to avoid it too. The world is way too small. If you feel like you have to discuss such things, better to write it in a journal at home. Sometimes women talk about relationship problems to help each other out with advice. But you have to watch out for the red flags of narcissists who are always maneuvering, using info, triangulating. Never feed those beasts.

  4. I don’t feel lonely. I have lots of interests and I know various people who share at least one of them. Getting an ancient camper van brought lots of new people into my life. Travel, camping, hiking,working on vehicles. I only wish I had more friends who love books.

  6. I moved at 30 from NYC to Seattle and experienced the same. I worked hard to maintain NY connections but people are busy. And Seattle is famous for the social Freeze. In NY I was used to having big parties in tiny apartments like everyone else did too, doing big camping trips together. I invited people over for parties here, they all stayed late and said they enjoyed it. But no one else had parties. It was weird. It was a different culture. I hope it’s all going well for you.

  8. Tim Pool had a recent video about an article on most people having no inner dialogue. The comments are interesting. A lot more variety in humans than I expected.

  9. Or the Eagles. When I’m on the road I can go into any Eagles club and be welcome. They know the best mechanics and the best fishing spots too.

  12. Back when I was still having parties, I would make sure to invite a mix of people and know enough about them to be able to make introductions. I’d keep an eye on things and move people around- “hey, George over there needs help with the BBQ or something. “ I think parents don’t show their kids how to be a host or hostess anymore.

  13. Find a naturopathic doctor. Lots of alternatives that might improve your health. Lots of videos of people discussing these topics. Big Pharma isn’t our friend.
