  7. I just had to add that the accent comes from the earliest English settlers in the area in the 1600s. They were from places like Gloucester and Lancashire.. I wonder if you can still hear that there today. My friends have a southie accent from growing up on the south side of Boston which had a lot of Irish immigration.
