  2. Every hotel/motel should have a short instructional video on what a rip current us, how to spot them and how to save yourself by swimming parallel to the beach. Always talk to the lifeguards to ask about conditions. On a rough day like that appeared to be, the inexperienced think the area with smaller smoother waves is the safe place to swim- but it’s usually where the rip is cutting through the waves.
