Shush! The unemployment rate is 3.5%! There are amazing jobs for everybody! Stop asking questions and get back to work lol

Yes, original code has to be written, but most of the code is writing itself thanks to these algorithms. Innovative software coding is truly the only 'coding' that has to be manually written. Nobody is sitting around writing (already existing software) for things that are routinely downloaded by companies.

Competition for what? He's a multi-millionaire; like he cares? Coding is useless is an age where algorithms are writing 99% of it. The only coding that matter is the creation of NEW and INNOVATIVE software. If you can't bring that to a company or be contracted to do so; you're wasting your time.

Waste your time and find out. The supply of coders is insane in most 1st world countries. Existing code does not have to be written while algorithms are doing it for you. The only coding that actually means anything is in the creation of innovative software. Unless you think you're going to be leading that innovation in your company department or constantly contracted in that industry; you're wasting you're time. Nobody cares about people that simply, 'know how to code.'

I can tell you with absolute confidence that there are virtually ZERO degrees worth pursuing anymore. If you drop out; you pay your debts for a long time. If you succeed; you start thinking about killing yourself 6 months into the job and you STILL pay your debts for a long time. People are burnt out, under-paid, and doing the labor of 3 people, while receiving minimal benefits. This is a grim reality, especially in healthcare right now. It's simply not worth it anymore to go to college and then get into your 'career' field. All that ends up happening, is you get placed into a corporation hierarchy with an abundance of red-tape and stipulations, on top of being asked to do everything under the sun for less and less pay as inflation eats your lunch. My own wife went to school for 6 years to become a Physician Assistant, later landing a job in cardiothoracic surgery; a very high paying job. The amount of times she's told me that she wishes she would have just stayed at Texas Roadhouse is crazy. If you go to college; you lose your wallet. If you go into STEM or Medicine; you lose your soul. Don't do it. Personally, if I could go back in time. I would have skipped college entirely (6 wasted years of trying to please my parents). I would have gone straight to FedEX to start making money, gotten my CDL at 21 and then started the whole process much earlier.

The only reason Smith was a success for FedEx was because he gambled his last savings in Las Vegas and won enough money ($30,000) to continue pursuing his dream and creation that was "FedEx".

@hooper157 It's not about building websites or apps necessarily. It's about writing unique code that can perform a new task. Companies have no use for you if you can simply 'code'. We have senior software engineers that can't even find a job for the last 12 months. A whopping majority of it is done by algorithms that are (you guessed it) created by software engineers. Everything revolves around the 'exciting new toy'. This is why Computer Science majors are dumbfounded when they graduate because nobody wants to hire them outside of working at a 'support center' for $16/hr. It's all about competition; creating a new and innovative search engine, algorithm, etc. If you want to employ the skills of simple coding and website creation. Then you're better off marketing yourself as an (independent contractor) to Pizza shops and local stores that need help getting better website traffic and sales convenience. It requires a lot of cold calling and whatnot though. Corporations on the other hand already have these kinds of assets. They are looking for newer, bigger, and better.
