  1. Exactly! It's frustrating as all hell. My mom prides herself on being a penny pincher. I tried explaining WHY my wife and I were cutting back and not doing the things we used to do (due to 42% inflation since 2020 - average). She looked at me like I have three heads. These are the same type of people that are happy about a 5% raise when their food got 50% more expensive.

  4. High interest rates are being done for the same misinformed reason that ultra-low interest rates were done for in 2020. The unemployment and GDP data is largely faulty. Gig work and ghost jobs have completely distorted what it means to be unemployed anymore. As far as the FED is concerned; the economy here in the US in healthy. However, everybody living on the ground level KNOWS that the current economy is even worse than 2008; devoid of a real-estate crash. I fear the FED has inadvertently damaged the economy so badly that any attempt to loosen interest rates will just go straight to multi-trillion dollar corporations and leave the rest of Americans in absolute poverty. Not to mention increase inflation all over again by 20-30% in 2025/2026.
