Well, it's actually very simple. The internet absolutely destroyed information scarcity. So now you have an oligarchy of media outlets trying to control the narrative (as they have always done). And then you have millions of people watching podcasts, interviews, and unedited easy access info about various topics. A lot of people feel like they're being lied to and rightfully so.

Both parties have entire swathes of low info voters; it's always been that way. Cherry picking does nothing but make insecure people feel better about their own parties mistakes imo. People vote for all sorts of reasons, but you'll never see the legitimate ones on air because the media can't have you thinking for yourself now can they? lol

Democrats say that the system is broken; then they act like it's impartial when attempting to charge Trump? Make up your minds. I will say, no matter how you try to swing it. Indicting Trump DOES come off as an attempt by the Democratic Party to imprison their political rival. This doesn't sit well with a large portion of the population and many people instantly think of authoritarianism.

The Nazis came to power because people didn't question institutions. This is literally the opposite.

It's because the media can no longer control a narrative as they have always done. A large oligarchy has always maintained sway over information scarcity. Now everybody is free to criticize, create, or delegitimize information however they see fit. This is both good and bad at the same time. The problem is; not many people can distinguish what's real and what's not. I'll admit, I have a very centered viewpoint and robust reasoning, but even I am not able to traverse it with 100% accuracy.
