  1. I am a stay at home dad living in the Midwest. After my wife and I agreed to marry; we settled down outside of the city to raise a family. I worked locally during 2020-2022 until my son was born last year. We've felt the strain of the economy like everyone else, but we are still doing rather well due to my wife's profession and she only has to work part time thankfully; three days a week. While I've been at home, I've applied for dozens of jobs in areas that I specialize. I called every Brewery in a 20 mile radius; that's 5 Breweries. Not a single one of them needed staffing for production. I called about 9 jobs requiring a CDL; 2 never called back, 2 weren't hiring, and 5 of them offered me a job ($19-21/hr). On top of that, the schedules were 6 days a week; 12-16 hours a day due to a local driving loophole in Federal regulations. Industry average at this time was around $24/hr. Absolutely ridiculous and no compromises! I left my job in 2020 due to moving out of the city, but that same company had cut my unpaid vacation from 13 to 8 days per year Mind you I was working 6 days a week; 66 hours on average. I took a job shortly after working for an excavation plumbing company that said they 'needed' a CDL. Promising me additional pay for the license and so forth. My first paycheck rolled around after my training week and I already calculated my check out; it was supposed to be $974.00. They hand me my check and the total comes out to $424.37; for 45 hours worth of work the previous week. I immediately tell the manager that I wasn't going to work that day unless it was corrected. So apparently, they put my rate at 2% of the contract instead of 4% and cut my day rates into 1/3. I walked off the job that day and never came back. There's something nefarious going on with the jobs data being released from the US Government (as well as foreign governments I would assume). The only jobs that seem to be available to the public are menial jobs that pay minimum wage to $14/hr. Then you had the jobs that pay less than industry average for 60-80 hours per week; no exceptions. What the hell is going on?
