  2. Rent control leads to shortages 100% of the time. Rent is still out of control because productivity has not caught up with inflation. This is Keynesian economy; blame the Federal Reserve for printing $8 Trillion.

  3.  @riderpaul  Yeah, very convincing. Read 'Capital' by Pikkety or 'Economics' by Sowell and get back to me. Rent control has always resulted in a shortage of housing. When rent is unaffordable for single persons; they pool with their friends. Newer generations inability to relate or socialize with their peers should not be the reason that they can't leave their parent's home. Government often fixes nothing and creates a whole slew of unanticipated problems. How people can ignore a problem caused by government and use that as a reason to invoke tighter government control never ceases to amaze me.
