I think you're speaking from media bias. Canada has already done enough on it's own to make life rather unaffordable and frustrating. Plus, you can't expatriate or buy real-estate over-seas without a 25% tax on both Canadian property AND foreign property. Canada did enough to destroy itself without Trump.

Gold vs fiat is irrelevant! At the end of the day, this all comes down to productivity. The nation with the best productivity and manufacturing with export their products to the US and import all of our gold. In the end, once a trade deficit happens; the US would have to substitute gold for IOUS, which would make the asset inflationary.

Nuclear weapons aren't what people think they are anymore. The arsenals have been drastically reduced and the size and radiation blast is far more efficient compared to the height of the cold war. Castle Bravo bombs aren't being kept on standby anymore. Even IF you got hit with a nuke; the largest warhead would probably be a 475-550Kt warhead. Still deadly, but the blast radius is significantly reduced as they are tactical designs AND the best part is that the radiation fallout would be nowhere near what it used to be.

Well it seems kind of obvious that they'd use everything in the war effort. Not wasting away in a parade perhaps

HE's charged with attempting to overturn the election results of Georgia and he's also charged with attempting to overturn the election results in New York. I'm pretty sure insurrection falls under those premises.

But they own 80% of all assets and the millennials cannot afford the Social Security benefits of Boomers and Gen X. Our budget is 71% mandatory; SS, Medicare, Medicaid, Public Transport, Tribal lands, etc. There is absolutely no way to pay it off. Even if my newborn pays double taxes across the board in 2045; it will not save this country.

SCOTUS will never rule against this subject. If they do, then it would implicate that the President must be 'charged' with a crime before the 14th amendment can be used. This argument was already used in one of Trump's legal battle in a Georgia courtroom and it fell flat on it's face. SCOTUS will either rule in favor of the Colorado SC or they will turn down the ruling.

I was gonna say, these Zeihan (green screens) are state of the art! lol

@Quickshot0 Not spreading NATO; do people so easily forget that the Obama Admin orchestrated a coup in Kiev during 2014 and then heads of the State Dept. appointed Zelensky. How much longer will the US and NATO use regime change tactics and then cry wolf about the results?

The bigger problem with the GOP is that it's doubling down on a religious identity to it's core; which has not happened in the past. The modern Republican Party was erected largely due to the efforts of many conservative idealisms of the 1990s, but it was still controlled in-large by a set of secular policies. It strived for a radical change in foreign policy and a series of economic investments/ business freedoms that it used to win the deep south between 1994 and 1996. Not to mention that a considerable amount of the GOP leadership is being held by Republicans in the southern US. Republican voters should be well aware that the RNC and the MAGA-core has essentially infiltrated the GOP and made it's ambitions much more oriented towards religious goals. This is one reason I abandoned the party some years ago.

Those pipelines have largely been on hold. The US isn't really importing that much crude in comparison to what we export already.

@johnqpublic9074 I think this is LESS about (courts siding with women) and more about the fact that many men AND women are greedy, impatient, and have no virtues. I'm a married man; 30 years old. The older I get, the more I find that people under 40 are complete jerks. All they care about are sports, drinking, and having no responsibilities. It's all about (me-me-me) all the time with younger people these days. No wonder dating is a complete nightmare. They both sit on their phones at the restaurant and don't give an inch to better themselves. They are both looking for a 'perfect' partner, while they themselves are horrible people that have no intention of changing.

It's no surprise for anybody that's been watching. US companies have been ripping off their own investors for years. What people in the general population are going to soon realize is that US tech valuations are basically over-valued by insane percentages. This is the tech bubble burst that some people have been waiting for. This isn't the start of the digital age; it's the END of it. US companies are using patent laws in order to fool investors and consumers that their products are unique and expensive in research and development. Deekseek basically proved that they could create a better product for 2% the cost.

Looking back, Brexit was probably one of the largest mistakes that the Brits ever made and I think many of them are slowly beginning to realize it. It would be the equivalent of a bunch of Boomers pushing for a movement in the US to force their products to be "made in America". Only to realize that everything costs 5X more and there's now a shortage of everything, many people lost their jobs, and then they all turned to drugs and alcohol. I've never seen the UK (as a whole) in a more depressed state. Many of them want to leave the isles and never return.

Trump has been in the political spotlight for almost 9 years now; Republicans are exhausted. Whatever charisma and power he had behind his MAGA movement has now died. Republicans do not have the numbers among the original MAGA block to pull him thru in 2024. The only way he wins is if RFK pulls too many votes from the Democrats.
1
It's no longer about liberal vs. conservative. For people that believe that, I would ask that you think again. Liberals are not lining up being the Democrats and vice versa for Republicans. If anything he Democratic Party is becoming a reactionary party, which is NOT consistent with liberal values. This is ultimately about institution vs. labor. If your livelihood relies on the existence of an institution; then you probably voted for Harris. If you feel like your life is being destroyed by institutions; then you probably voted for Trump.
1
Well, I would actually think that the end of slavery disenfranchised aristocracies that were hoarding wealth in society; creating a super class in the south. Even though you'd have to pay people to farm cotton after that. It wasn't like plantation owners weren't gouging their customers on their own terms already; it was (in a way) a cartel of businesses. If anything if probably brought prices down.
1
Recessions are inevitable; I think you mean deflation. You'd be asking for the destruction of SS, Medicare, and Pensions. This isn't like 2008 when the US could afford a decrease in revenue and productivity. The plan for the FED is that they plan to drown every recession with inflation to save the current budget.

Peter says that it's honest to assume Trump is failing? He should stick to geo-politics. The 2024 election just re-aligned ALL voting blocks and demographics, which nobody predicted. Older people swung towards the Democrats 49:49. Younger generations and middle aged adults swung heavily towards the Republican side. The whole problem is that the Democratic Parties platform is (ignore everything else - just watch out for Trump!). If they carry that mentality into 2028; a candidate like JD Vance could win the popular vote by 70%. Democrats are not doing their due diligence. Think I'm wrong? Imagine how many Democrats will stop voting just because Trump is gone.
1
@zer Hardly obnoxious when it describes every middle-aged adult in the late 90s and early 2000s. Yes, televangelism! Along with all the other cults that they suckered people into and forced their Millennial children to abide by. Millennials are the first generation to break the chains.

@mariekuijkenhistoricallyaw2598 Bots are easy to recognize because they use unusual lingo and predictable language that most people wouldn't. Also, they typically like to solicit material while pretending to be human and unusually kind/caring.
1
Right? I'm 31; so is my wife. We have a two year old child and own a home. There is nobody and I mean NOBODY with children living within a quarter mile, it's insane.

@BadtakeDave National abortion ban? Where did you hear that?

@ Veritas304 Thanks for the insult. I believe this clearly shows who has a better understanding; otherwise I'm not sure you would have needed it in the first place. If you're going to gaslight my intelligence; bring facts please. What you said was actually false and provable so. Canada is not the leading exporter to the United States; by volume they are tied for 2nd/3rd with Mexico (as of 2022). (2023 volume has them third with Mexico leading ahead of China) That volume is largely from petroleum btw. A resource that the US doesn't have a problem making itself. Larger production domestically would reduce barrel prices and Canada loses relative profit. Canada's economy is dependent on petroleum exports. With the cost of living crisis happening currently; I'd imagine any big drop in barrel prices or demand could be dangerous. A weakened Canada is a weakened Canada. The US has plenty of resources to significantly reduce any fallout from oil problems and tech manufacturing. The exports are a dime a dozen. Want some life advice? Please take your emotions out of it and learn how to properly debate.
1
@Veritas304 You've lost the debate; deal with it and move on. I'm not stooping any lower to your immature behavior. It's nothing but narcissistic gaslighting. Good day..
1
I fully agree! A vote for Biden is a vote for global dysfunction. A vote for Trump is a vote for domestic conflict and dysfunction at home. I don't think people understand that Trump virtually have 'no solutions' to the things affecting America. This is a revenge tour and he has no plan to fix SS, the border, wages, etc.

Thankfully, all nukes in circulation are considerably smaller and more tactical. Plus the radiation fallout is nowhere near what it was during the height of the cold war. The largest weapons anyone carries these days are 475-550k Kt. There's barely anything larger in either arsenal.
