  2. The nicest people he'd met had never read a book? That is a very good point. My life, particularly in adult education, has been beset with those who are insincere, insensitive and not willing if you like, to understand, to empathise. There are lots of smart people who 'should know better''. Although, I also know, such as in my own family, that stupid people often have arrogant traits - their confidence correlates with stupidity. In short, ignorance is bliss, of course.
