@cvn6555 So everything is to do with 'the company'. Lots of people don't work for a company, or for anybody. They are underutilized. You found something you could do, and yes it involved more hours and some initiative, but you would do. What else would you have preferred to do as a way of life? The idea of the entrepreneurial dream is in some ways false.

@cvn6555 I guess if someone's a slob, perhaps living on their van, they won't be very competitive. Competitive, in a global market, is, as you say, the bottom line. But the slobs often have ideas or an appreciation of what doesn't work. If society for some reason rejects talent, then the talented can lose motivation, suffer bad mental health etc.
