The "upgrades" to the Polish Fulcrums don't consist of sensitive avionics. You're thinking of the Slovak MiGs that were upgraded with Israeli kit. The Polish airframes really only received IFF comms, which would not be utilized in Ukraine in the first place, and TACAN, which is not sensitive whatsoever.

The treaty obligated the parties to respect Ukraine's sovereign borders. Not defend them. Russia broke their end, none of the other parties did.

Well, not during wartime. Although it wouldn't matter with regard to Ukraine anyway. A few ancient Su-33s that can barely lift off the flight deck wouldn't add anything to the fight.

@honfmeilingfleet957 Lol. Russia lost a naval war to a country with no navy. Keep coping.

@honfmeilingfleet957 The land forces fought to a stalemate, essentially. The US Navy surface fleet fared perfectly fine in Vietnam.

@jerromedrakejr9332 Is that what they told you on Channel 1 or RT?

@kabochakabocha3561 Propaganda? Russia's Black Sea fleet has been defeated by a country that doesn't even have a navy. Ask the sailors that got turned into crab food at the bottom whether that's "propaganda" or not.

I saw one docked in Barcelona once. It legit seemed larger than some cruise ships. I looked it up on a ship-locating app on my phone and, yup, it was a Russian oligarch's pleasure boat. Meanwhile, the "defenders of the motherland" are being eaten by the crabs at the bottom of the sea because Putin decided to attack an innocent country next door to keep his sputtering regime alive. Russians never seem to get the fact that the west doesn't hate them and isn't out to get them. They just make themselves subservient to the worst leaders on the face of the planet, over and over again.

The maintenance budgets were tanked by the economic downturn of the '90s, and by the time Russia began to recover, Putin and his cronies were stealing so much from the people that military materiel was left to rot even though it could have been restored or further developed. It's actually sad what he's done to his own people, and they refuse to hold him accountable.

The foreign S-300s were from Slovakia. The U.S. backfilled Slovakia with Patriots. The S-300s that the U.S. acquired came from Belarus in the 1990s. Rumor has it they're also on their way.

Naval tech evolves. We once had "light carriers," which gave way to "amphibious assault ships" that carried helicopters, which are now evolving BACK into "light carriers." The Japanese Izumo class was technically designated a "destroyer," but was magically fitted with a flight deck able to carry F-35Bs, lol. Meanwhile U.S. Navy amphibs are essentially leading battle groups similar to the supercarriers, only a bit smaller. It's interesting stuff.

@sebastian-FX357Z1 Besides the Kursk, Russia has done better with subs than with surface combatants. The improved Kilo class is a decent sub and up there with most modern SSKs. Russia just can't make surface vessels unless they're yachts for oligarchs. The Kuznetsov, in reality, was terrible – made worse by taking a massively heavy air superiority fight, redesignating it the Su-33, and trying to use it as a naval fleet defender off a ski jump. There's a reason China can't wait to get rid of theirs.
