  1. I used to live in a (very) small island town in the USA with the ZIP code "08008." The computer systems in the postal service would often mis-read kids' letters to the North Pole with the ZIP code "00000" as ours and send them to the local post office by mistake. A group of residents would get together every year, gather them up and respond to the letters as Santa. I moved away some time ago, so not sure if it still goes on, but it was definitely a thing back in the day.
