  1.  @CountvonStaffordofVirginia1607  - The U.S. is effectively already doing this. With the F-35B (same one the Royal Navy is using on its smaller carriers) the USN's amphibious assault ships are expanding their role into "mini carriers," so to speak. The Marines can operate a good number of aircraft from these ships to provide support for land ops.
