  1. People who live outside of the Atlantic City market don't know the full story of this. The casinos in Atlantic City failed after Donald Trump sold them, not before. They continued to use his name on them for years after he had nothing to do with them. Their failure wasn't because they were run poorly, but because Pennsylvania legalized gambling (Philadelphia market gone) and tribal nations built casinos in Connecticut that were closer to NYC. Atlantic City was frozen out by geography. Trump, seeing the writing on the wall, actually got OUT of the business just before it collapsed – in other words, he made the exact RIGHT moves.

  2. It's not a scam. It's a simple game of risk that millions of people find entertaining and are willing to pay for. Casinos provide fun, drinks, socializing – yes, for a price, or if you're lucky, sometimes you'll come out ahead. My sense is that the OP is not fun at parties. If people think something that doesn't hurt anyone else is fun, why would you want it to be illegal? Cancel culture sucks.

  4.  @ThingsAreGettingTooSpicy  - Yes, it was. Many of the casinos he purchased had been overleveraged prior to his purchasing them. Debt restructuring, sometimes through the bankruptcy process, is part of business.
