  1. Another idea: let the National Park Service run some of this stuff. Kick a few of these monopolistic companies out and have a no-frills mountain for people who simply want to ski at an affordable price.

  2. Some of the resorts in Pennsylvania have done this. I've never been there, but I've seen their advertisements on TV.

  3.  @true3211  - Yup, it definitely works in temperate climates (US east coast, Montreal, etc.). It's a good idea, too, to keep people working and would probably increase the value of the property to benefit the ratable base.

  4. So I'm a warm weather guy. Hate cold, snow and everything that goes with it. That said, even if I liked the cold, I feel like it would get annoying – constantly having to wait in line to get back up the mountain, and paying to do so. Actually, the thing I hate most besides cold weather is long lines. This doesn't seem like the sport for me.
