  1. This was a little misleading. The U.S. does have an interceptor missile capable of taking out a hypersonic in the Navy's SM-6, and an anti-satellite weapon in the SM-3. The guidance system (he described it as a satellite, but it's much more complicated than this) is under development now under the GPI program. Regarding the idea of "more ships" in the PLAN, that is correct, but navies do not measure themselves based on the number of hulls in commission – it's measured by tonnage, and the U.S. still has a major advantage. Many of China's naval vessels are really more coastal patrol craft suited for brown and green water ops.
