This is eventually going to turn into a three-day turkey shoot, not WWIII. Let's not give Iran too much credit, here. They are excellent at oppressing their own citizens (they're even friends with Maduro!) but not so great at much of anything else.

@Blob B - Uhh, no, if there were UK special operators on board, they would have defended themselves and the crew against a hostile boarding by a paramilitary force recognized as an international terrorist organization. Actually, if there were SBS personnel on board, this would never have happened to begin with. The Iranians don't actually want to fight anyone. They want to seize undefended civilian ships and drive around in pleasure boats throwing mines overboard like complete idiots.

Who knew that the marina where I keep my boat in suburban Tampa, FL has a larger navy than Iran. Probably more guns too lol. FWIW, quite a few years back, there was a story where the US Navy recruited recreational boaters in the FL panhandle to act as aggressors in a simulation of an Iranian small boat swarm.

@TheCyberianWonder - Ahh, the "deal" where the previous U.S. president rented a plane, filled it with cash in the middle of the night and flew it over to the mullahs. Yeah, that was one hell of a deal.

@J A - There are Russian citizens among those who crewed the seized ship. Russia doesn't need Iran being a headache either. China needs ME oil (the U.S. does not). If Iran does something like close the strait, they would suffer most. China would be secretly thanking the US/UK for keeping its oil flowing.

@TProfileG - There are some great videos of PMCs (and active US, UK and Russian special forces) defending container ships and tankers from pirates off Africa. As for mines, I believe the USN has eight minesweepers in Bahrain. Don't see much of an issue there are long as you've gained air supremacy before going in and getting your hands dirty taking all of their mines out of the water.
