Yikes. The lady spewing the Russian propaganda, whoa. There's a reason no legitimate international journalists remain in Moscow at this point. Although I almost felt bad for her, she looked like a hostage trying to watch what she says while her captors look on.

Wow, lots of dirty vatniks in here conducting a "special keyboard operation" in the comments. Or are they just bots lol?

AJ is apparently going all-in on Erdogan's silly attempt to rename the country, I guess?

So here's what's going to happen now that the brain trust in Ankara is playing both sides: The U.S. will not sell the Turks the F-35, effectively the only commercially-viable fifth-gen fighter platform, because they're buying the S-400. The Turks don't want Chinese junk, and Russia's Su-57 program is all but dead, so they'll end up with the jet of choice for authoritarian dictators the world over: the Flanker. They'll do tricks at air shows and it'll look cool, and the anti-American media will giggle like trained seals as they usual do. Then, one day, Turkey – still playing both sides – will find themselves aligned with one of Russia's enemies. The Russians will stop arming them, and they will have burnt their bridges with the U.S.

@Lea_Kaderova - Not really. More like "guy who reads the news from multiple international sources and practices common sense."
1
@Lea_Kaderova - Actually, Turkish officials have publicly stated that their "first choice" as a source for a fifth-gen fighter, in the event they are kicked out of the F-35 program, would be Russia. The Chinese "junk" (and yes, I think it is junk) J-31 is a far third option – even behind the fourth-gen Flanker. And, yes, all indications are that the Su-57 project is dead. India pulled out altogether, the plane doesn't even have an engine, and its stealth has been largely exposed as somewhat fraudulent and the most recent news was that it may be deployed by 2028. Many experts in the field are suggesting that development of certain Su-57 components will be simply grafted into updated Flanker variants or shelved until a true fifth-gen-worthy design is achieved.

Nobody wants to buy anything from a terrorist state. It is no surprise that Russia cannot sell its grain and fertilizer.

Mmm... turkey.

@ruez - The F-117 wasn't particularly "advanced." It was a flying box developed in the 1970s, one of which was shot down primarily due to pilot error (he didn't stagger bomb runs). Yeah, old Soviet hardware is unbeatable, lol.

@tumanskychikov7255 - If Putin wasn't busy trying to re-start the Cold War, invading Ukraine before a vote can be taken on annexation, assassinating British citizens on British soil with weapons of mass destruction and aligning himself with every brutal dictatorship in the world – NATO probably would not exist anymore. Putin reaps what he sows. What is sad is that he squandered his own nation's freedom and prosperity all for the glorification of his humongous ego.

@sonofthedragon2112 - Well, I'm not Canadian. But if I were, I'd probably do what most of my fellow countrymen do: watch hockey and stay in Florida for the winter. In the wildest imaginations of the craziest kook conspiracy theorist alive, there is no scenario in which the U.S. invades and occupies Canada. Let's be real here.

@ars104venger - I don't speak Russian, my friend. Although I see a lot of exclamation points, so I'm guessing your comment was pretty good.
1
@anthonymitchell8893 Yeah, I'm sure you'd do very well under Putin's dictatorship, lol.
1
@sonofthedragon2112 - Wow, they're letting you watch this video in China? Or are you on a VPN to overcome your authoritarian government's draconian violations of your human rights? Better watch out - your social credit score might be dropping! Can the 100 surveillance cameras on your street spot YouTube from outside? LoL.

@RasPutintheGreat - That deal was a waste of ink before the ink dried.

@AbcDefg-br6ql - Hey, Xi! How are things in Xinxiang today?

Two SAM batteries give him security? Man, he is an idiot then...

Nah.

@mct _ - Europeans have "Russophobia?" Well of course they do! They snuck a weapon of mass destruction into the U.K. and assassinated British citizens in a public square. In many parts of the world, this behavior could have led to an outright war.
1
@mct _ - The UK does adhere to a presumption of innocence. Is anyone sitting in jail for killing these people? Did SAS or MI6 agents kidnap anyone in the middle of the night? Did the UK kill any Russian citizens in revenge? Nope. They got away with it, as authoritarian thugs across the world do too often.

Only thousands of intel operators posing as students, bankers, everyday Americans...

The Middle East is a toilet.

walt charamba - What you forgot about the F-117 incident is that the S-125 (not the S-200) was fired when the bomb bay door of the plane opened, negating its stealth characteristics. The only reason the SAM commander was able to even get the one shot off was because the F-117 pilots were a bit cocky. They ran the same bombing runs daily, and eventually the enemy caught on and waited for the two-second window to fire. Had they simply switched up the direction of their bombing runs, it would've never happened. So, yes, if a stealth aircraft does something that negates its stealth repeatedly, on a daily basis, for weeks, it is more likely to be shot down – including by an old S-125.
1
Heather Larson - The cons of the deal: - You're now in the club of two-bit dictators and thugs aligned with Putin. - Russian military equipment is historically unreliable. - Russia's supply chain for repairs and maintenance is painstakingly slow. - Buying a few of these batteries is meaningless in a conflict, and for all that money wasted, you blew your relationship with NATO.
1
@danthumu2211 - Umm, no, the U.S. is not "shaking" about two SAM batteries somewhere in the world. Countries have SAMs. That's why you develop SEAD techniques.
1
@amoslukyaa5792 - You do know, for what it's worth, that the U.S. actually owns an S-300 and likely simulates the advances to the S-400 (the S-400 is simply an upgraded S-300 - they changed the numerical ID for marketing purposes, hoping stupid leaders like Erdogan would fall for it) and trains against it, correct?
1
@abdullahiahmed3425 - No, you don't. That rule is only imposed on Pakistan so they don't start a nuclear war with India. Tons of countries buy U.S.-made planes and aren't calling Washington every time they use them.
1
I'm pretty sure American and Israeli pilots care far less about the S-400 than many people in this comments section. They will fly wherever they want and two silly SAM batteries are not going to stop them.
